Northerly winds strengthening

High pressure will be nearby through the weekend into early next week, although as northerly winds become stronger, a scattering showers will develop as the week progresses. These very hit and miss, and many places may stay largely dry.

Monday 1/6/20
Another warm and sunny day for most places as high pressure stays in charge. A weak front edging into western Scotland and Ireland may bring more high and middle level cloud in these areas, and perhaps a very isolated shower breaking out by the afternoon in these areas. Most place will stay dry all day. A general easterly breeze, feeling fresh near coasts at 14 to 17C. Highs 21 to 24C inland.


Tuesday 2/6/20
Most of England & Wales remain dry with sunshine. Perhaps hazier in the north and west with high cloud. A front extending across Scotland and Ireland will bring more cloud overall here, and a risk of scattered slow-moving showers forming, these may be locally thundery by afternoon, but very hit and miss. Light east to northeast winds, feeling cool along North Sea coasts. Highs 20 to 24C inland.


Wednesday 3/6/20
High pressure located to the northwest maintains a general northeasterly breeze, strongest in the south. A few isolated showers forming during the day, but again many places staying completely dry. Sunshine and some broken cloud. Temperatures ranging from 13 to 22C, warmest inland for central and western parts of England & Wales.
 


Thursday 4/6/20
A general northerly airflow is expected later in the week, with cooler conditions extending south across the British Isles. A few showers are possible, but remaining fairly hit and miss, with western areas more likely staying dry. A fresher wind, and lower temperatures, highs of 12 to 15C in the north, 17 to 20C in the south.

Friday 5/6/20
Cool northerly winds continue, with showery rain spreading across Scotland, and scattered showers possible elsewhere. Sunshine and broken cloud. Northern Scotland barely reaching 10C, with highest temperatures in southern England only 16 to 18C.

Saturday 6/6/20
Cool conditions are expected to prevail into the weekend, with sunshine and a few showers. Highs 11 to 18C.
