Cold, rain & sleet in south

Wednesday
A cold day ahead for all. Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow in southern England and the far south of Ireland. Some snow settling on hills, and perhaps some at lower levels at times. Sunnier skies in northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland, a few snow showers in northern Scotland. This afternoon sees some spots of rain and sleet with hill snow continuing in the far south of England, perhaps reaching southern Wales too. Dry for other areas, the sunniest skies in Scotland and Northern Ireland with snow showers in the north. Highs near 2 to 4C but perhaps to 10C in the far southwest of England.


Wednesday Night
Cloudy with periods of rain, sleet and snow in southern Ireland and southern England tonight. Snow falling mostly on hills with low cloud and drizzle over southwest coasts and hills. Drier for other areas with clear skies and a widespread frost. Some snow showers in northern Scotland. Lows at 4C in southwest England, -2 to -5C elsewhere.
 


Thursday
Low pressure over southern Ireland pushes rain, sleet and some snow through Ireland, Wales, the Midlands, southern and southwest England on Thursday morning. Most snow occurring over the hills, but some slushy snow may occur in parts of central Ireland and the Midlands for a time. Sunnier and frosty in Scotland to start the day. This afternoon sees the rain and sleet reaching Northern Ireland and northern England as well as the far south of Ireland with snow over hills. Staying cold and bright in the rest of Scotland bur milder and still cloudy and damp in southern England. Highs at 11C in southwest England, 7C in the Midlands, 2C in Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England.


Friday
Low pressure east of the UK on Friday brings a cold day. Windy and wet in eastern areas at first with a risk of some sleet over eastern England and eastern Scotland, snow over the hills. Some snow showers in northern Scotland and perhaps north Wales. Dry for other areas with sunny spells although some cloud and rain may affect parts of southwest England for a while. Highs at 10C in southern England, 4C in northern Scotland and just 3C in northeast England and eastern Scotland.
