Cold start with risk of rain, sleet and snow then milder and more unsettled

Staying cold over the coming days with some sleet and snow, mainly over high ground of Wales and northern England. Tending to become milder in the south, the milder weather then spreading north over the weekend and into next week. Breezier later too with cloud, rain and drizzle.

Friday 10/3/23
Low pressure east of the UK on Friday brings a cold day. Windy and wet in eastern areas at first with a risk of some sleet over eastern England and eastern Scotland, snow over the hills. Some snow showers in northern Scotland and perhaps north Wales. Dry for other areas with sunny spells although some cloud and rain may affect parts of southwest England for a while. Highs at 10C in southern England, 4C in northern Scotland and just 3C in northeast England and eastern Scotland.


Saturday 11/3/23
A frosty sart as a ridge of high pressure builds. Dry with lots of sunshine in northern and eastern areas at first. Turning cloudier in the west and south with rain in Ireland. The rain spreads to Northern Ireland, Wales, western and southern England during the day, turning to snow over hills and perhaps even at low levels for an hour or two. Highs at 3C in eastern England, 10C in southern Ireland.

Sunday 12/3/23
The area of low pressure is expected north of Scotland on Sunday. This brings a milder southwest flow over all parts of the British Isles. Becoming drier for a time in a fresh to strong southwest wind, rain then moving into Ireland and western parts of the British Isles into the afternoon. Highs at 5C in northern Scotland, 12C in southwest England.

Monday 13/3/23
Low pressure over Scotland on Monday. Rain affects Scotland and much of Ireland for most of the day. Some periods of rain in western Wales and southwest England but drier in central and eastern areas. Highs at 5C in northern Scotland, 13C in southern England.

Tuesday 14/3/23
Low pressure clears east on Tuesday with a northwest flow developing. There will be cloud and some showery periods of rain. Some sleet and snow over the hills of Scotland. Brighter in Ireland with sunny spells. Highs at 5 to 9C.

Wednesday 15/3/23
A rather cloudy day with some rain and drizzle in northern and western areas. Rather murky over western hills and coasts. Brighter and drier in the east. Highs at 12C in southern England, 4C in northern Scotland.
