Changeable but mostly cold with ain, sleet and snow at times later in the week

Cold through the rest of this week with severe overnight frosts. Turning increasingly unsettled as the week progresses with a risk of rain, sleet and snow. A covering of snow could affect some areas. Indications of unsettled conditions early next week too.

Thursday 9/3/23
An area of low pressure moving into Ireland on Thursday. This brings coud and rain to most of Ireland and much of England and Wales. The rain turning to sleet and snow over the hills of Wales, Northern Ireland and northern England with the risk of some snow at low levels in these areas. Damp and mostly cloudy in southern England with further spells of rain and showers. Brighter for central and northern Scotland with sunny spells although sleet and snow in southern Scotland in the afternoon and evening. Tops at 3 to 4C for most, 12C in southwest England.


Friday 10/3/23
Low pressure east of the UK on Friday brings a cold day. Windy and wet in eastern areas at first with a risk of some sleet over eastern England and eastern Scotland, snow over the hills. Some snow showers in northern Scotland and perhaps north Wales. Dry for other areas with sunny spells although some cloud and rain may affect parts of southwest England for a while. Highs at 8C in southern England, 4C in northern Scotland and just 3C in northeast England and eastern Scotland.

Saturday 11/3/23
A frosty sart as a ridge of high pressure builds. Dry with lots of sunshine in northern and eastern areas at first. Turning cloudier in the west and south with rain in Ireland. The rain spreads to Northern Ireland, Wales, western and southern England during the day, turning to snow over hills and perhaps even at low levels for an hour or two. Highs at 3C in eastern England, 12C in southern Ireland.

Sunday 12/3/23
The area of low pressure is expected north of Scotland on Sunday. This brings a milder southwest flow over all parts of the British Isles. Rain in central and northern Scotland, heavy showers affecting western parts of England, Wales and Ireland. Fewer showers in the east. Windy for all with a risk of gales in the west. Highs at 8 to 13C.

Monday 13/3/23
Low pressure remains to the north of Scotland on Monday. Rain affects Scotland and much of Ireland for most of the day. Rather cloudy with some spots of rain for England and eastern Wales, although some more persistent rain in western Wales and parts of southwest England. Windy in England and Wales where it will be milder, cool in Scotland. Highs at 5C in northern Scotland, 15C in southern England.

Tuesday 14/3/23
A further area of low pressure passes eastwards through the British Isles on Tuesday. This brings a windy day with rain, some snow over the hills of Scotland. Highs at 12C in southeast England, 5C in Scotland.
