Unsettled, rain and showers as well as a risk of severe gales

Unsettled weather remains through this week. Low pressure brings periods of rain, some of them heavy, together with strong winds. Severe gales could occur in the south later on Thursday and into Friday. Some cool days but some much milder days as well.

Wednesday 29/3/23
A moist southwest flow brings plenty of cloud through Wednesday. There will be periods of rain, most in Scotland where some cloud be heavy in the west. Drizzle and rain in western and southern parts of England and Wales, probably tending to be drier in the east. A few brighter spells may come through in Ireland later, although still some showers here. Highs at 10 to 14C.


Thursday 30/3/23
Brighter in the east on Thursday with sunny spells and a scattering of showers. Further showers in western areas and these will be heavy. Later in the day a storm system may well develop southwest of Ireland and this then brings severe gales and heavy rain to southern Ireland, Wales and southwest England by evening. Top temperatures at 12 to 14C.

Friday 31/3/23
Severe gales and heavy rain for many overnight into Friday with low pressure then situated over the British isles. This will be bringing heavy showers in southern and western areas together with longer spells of rain in Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. Some bright spells in central and southern areas too. Temperatures at 9 to 13C.

Saturday 1/4/23
Low pressure remains close to eastern coasts on Saturday. This brings heavy showers, some of them prolonged and thundery, to make areas. It may be drier and brighter in northern Scotland. Windy in the south and west. Highs at 8 to 12C.

Sunday 2/4/23
A cold day as showers continue in much of England, especially the east. Low pressure off southeast England bringing a brighter and chilly flow to all areas. Tending to be dry in Scotland with good spells of sunshine. Highs at 9 to 11C.

Monday 3/3/23
A morning frost is possible on Monday. The day should be dry with good spells of sunshine, Cloud and some rain into western Ireland later. Highs at 9 to 12C.
