Harsh frost, ice and snow to cause some disruption.

A late winter cold snap arrives this week bringing frost, ice and snow to many. Settling snow could cause some disruption further south through the middle part of the week before the temperatures are expected to turn milder and the snow turns to rain for most. Staying unsettled with heavy and persistent rain and strengthened winds for some late week and weekend.

Wednesday 8/3/23
A widespread harsh frost with ice first thing and it will continue to feel cold on Wednesday. Plenty of sunshine across much of Scotland, Northern Ireland and north England though expect snow showers to affect northern Scotland and down some coastal counties with some pushing further inland. Starting bright with sunny spells but turning progressively cloudy further south with outbreaks of rain, snow on the leading edge and over higher ground, moving in across southwest England then south Wales and further east across southern English counties. Further north and east should remain largely dry though snow showers on to coastal counties. Highs at a cold 4 to 7C.


Thursday 9/3/23
Another cold, frosty start to Thursday, again severe in the north. Rain, sleet and snow, snow to lower levels too, will spread across Wales, southern and central England first thing. This may cause some disruption around commuting time. The rain, sleet and snow is expected to graudally break up while largely transition into rain as milder temepratures move in. Staying cold with snow showers across northern England and Scotland. Highs at a cold 3 to 5C for most though rising to double figures across the far south of England and south Wales.

Friday 10/3/23
A frosty start again across Scotland and northern England, less so further south and the temperatures are expected to rise markedly through the day. Cloudy and wet with rain, heavy at times in places across Wales and much of England. Snow showers continue across Scotland though many should stay dry with the best of the sunny spells in the northwest. Highs struggling to rise acrooss much of Scotland into northern England, while highs rise to 7 to 13C elsewhere.

Saturday 11/3/23
Saturday is a milder day for most though expedcted to remain cold and frosty across central and nrothern Scotland. Another cloudy and west day for many, some rain will fall heavy and persistent before largely clearing formt he west and south later with sunny spells developing here. Highs at 8 to 14C for most, though much of Scotland still chilly at 3 to 6C.

Sunday 12/3/23
A windy and blustery day on Sunday with showers, these heavy and frequent in the west, some merging into longer spells of rain across central and southern England. Best of the sunshine and drier weather further east. Highs at 7 to 13C.

Monday 13/3/23
Monday starts dry and fine before cloud builds and showery rain moves in from the south and west through the day. The north and northeast of the country staying dry for longest with best of the sunny spells. Highs at 7 to 13C.
