A windy start to Monday morning through England and Wales. Some sunny spells and feeling mild. Showers in western Wales and southwest England. Cloudier for northern England with some showers here too. More persistent rain in central and southern Scotland, fall as snow on hills. Showers in western Ireland. Turning cloudier and wetter through the afternoon for much of England and Wales. The rain become sheavier in northern England and southern Scotland, again falling as sleet and snow over hills. Rain affects eastern Ireland, but drier and brighter as well as colder in the west. Turning colder in northern Scotland with some snow showers in far northwest. Tops at 3C in northern Scotland, 12C in southern England.


Monday Night
Rain tonight through southern Scotland, northern England and Ireland, snow over hills of southern Scotland and northern England. Rain clears through central and eastern England. Colder and drier for the rest of Scotland and Ireland although some snow showers in the west. Windy across England and Wales with colder air arriving by morning. Lows at -4C in Scotland, 5C in southern England.


Tuesday
A colder start to Tuesday for most. Low pressure to the east will be bringing a fresh northwest wind. There will be some showers, mostly in the north and west where they will fall as snow on hills and sleet at lower levels. There may be an hour or so of more persistent wintry weather in western Scotland, Ireland, northwest England and northern and western Wales in the afternoon with a brief covering of snow possible at lower levels. Drier and brighter south and turning drier too in Scotland with sunshine but plenty of ice developing later. Highs at 2C in northern Scotland, 7C in southern England, 4 to 5C for most.


Wednesday
A widespread frost for Wednesday morning as a ridge of high pressure builds through the country. There may be some morning mist and fog patches but these clear to leave plenty of sunny spells. Increased cloud in Ireland and western parts of the UK. This will be bringing rain and stronger winds which will be turning more persistent into the afternoon. Stying fair and bright in the east. Highs at 2C in northern Scotland, 7C in the south of England.
