Snow clearing Friday
Icy Saturday

Friday
A messy and disruptive start to Friday is expected for many across central and northern regions of England including across Wales with falling snow on to lying snow after seeing the temperatures refreezing from the night before making conditions particularly tricky. Low pressure continues to push east seeing the rain, sleet and snow gradually clearing from the north and west through the morning. Strengthened winds first thing will also ease back though stay blustery across the SE of England where spells of rain will continue. Meanwhile, snow showers will affect eastern regions of Scotland down through NE and central eastern areas of England. Snow showers on to north and west Scotland too. Largely dry elsewhere before cloud builds and rain starts to push in across the SW later. Highs at 3 to 6C.

Friday Night
Many places staying dry overnight into Saturday with widespread, harsh frost and widespread ice expected to develop. Thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain progressively move across SW England and into parts of Wales by dawn. Lows dropping to -2 to -8C, colder for more rural areas and higher ground.

Saturday
Extensively frosty and icy to start Saturday as a ridge of high pressure builds across the country. Dry with lots of sunshine in northern and eastern areas at first. Turning cloudier in the west and south with outbreaks of rain pushing across from the south and west. As the day progresses rain spreads north and east across Northern Ireland, Wales into western and central parts of England, turning to snow over higher ground, some snow to lower levels too, across northern England and eventually southern and central regions of Scotland. Highs at 4 to 8C for most, milder across southwest England.

Sunday
A brief ridge of high pressure brings a largely dry start to Sunday and on a developing southwesterly wind flow milder temperatures will push in for most today. Cloud will soon thicken though and outbreaks of rain are expected to push in across western areas initially before moving east through the day. The winds strengthening to near gale and gale force for some by the end of the day. Highs rising to 8 to 13C for most, still a chilly north Scotland with highs here at 4 or 5C.
