Cold, sleet far south
Severe frost tonight

Tuesday
Tuesday morning starts damp in the far south of England and Wales with some showery spots of rain and sleet over hills. Rather cloudy but drier in the far south of Ireland, much of Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia. Sunny for most of northern England, Ireland and Scotland, although snow showers in northern Scotland. This afternoon stays mostly cloudy in the south, some spots of rain and sleet, mostly on hills. Dryer and sunny for the rest of England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland, although some snow showers continue in northern Scotland. Highs at 3 to 4C.


Tuesday Night
Dry and frosty overnight for many areas. Clear skies allowing the frost to be severe in places. There will be some cloud in the far south of England and a risk of snow showers in northern Scotland. The cloud in the south bringing rain and some sleet to southern Ireland and southern coasts of England later in the night. Lows at -3 to -6C for many areas, as low as -15C in central Scotland.


Wednesday
Fronts moving into the south of the country through Wednesday will be bringing an area of rain, sleet and some hills snow to southern England. The risk of sleet and snow increases through the evening and overnight, perhaps leading to a slushy covering in places, even at low levels. Some cloud but probably dry in the Midlands, much of Wales and East Anglia. A few snow showers in northern Scotland, but otherwise most areas will be dry and bright with lots of sunshine although feeling cold. A severe morning frost in these areas. Highs near 3 to 4C.


Thursday
An area of low pressure moving into Ireland on Thursday. This brings coud and rain to most of Ireland and much of England and Wales. The rain turning to sleet and snow over the hills of Wales, Northern Ireland and northern England with the risk of some snow at low levels in these areas. Damp and mostly cloudy in southern England with further spells of rain and showers. Brighter for central and northern Scotland with sunny spells although sleet and snow in southern Scotland in the afternoon and evening. Tops at 3 to 4C for most, 12C in southwest England.
