Issued: 0530hrs Thursday 6th October 2022
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Windy with a risk of gales in northern areas and some showers in the west

Fair across much of central and eastern England this morning, plenty of sunshine as dawn breaks and breezy across the Midlands and northern England. Some showers for the far northwest of England as well as in western Wales. Bright too in Scotland, although windy here with gales in the north and west. Showers could be heavy in western Scotland. More cloud in Ireland, some showers to the west.

This afternoon sees more showers in western Scotland, these heavy and merging to longer spells of rain. A few showers too in western England and Wales, eastern and southern parts will be dry and bright with sunny spells. Some showers for the north and west of Ireland. Remaining breezy for all.

Overnight it stays breezy with gales in the north. Heavy rain in central and western Scotland as well as western Ireland. A risk of some showers over western Wales and the coasts of southwest England. Drier for other areas with broken cloud.
