Patchy rain north & west
Sunny Scotland later

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 12th October 2022
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Patchy rain for southern Scotland, northern England and Wales, drier elsewhere, sunnier Scotland this afternoon

A weak front tries to make progresses through the country today. This brings some patchy rain top eastern and southern Scotland, northern England, eastern Ireland and parts of the north and west of Wales this morning. Other areas will be drier and rather cloudy, although a few brighter spells in the Midlands and southern England. Brighter weather into west Scotland and western Ireland later too. Rather breezy across northern England.

This afternoon sees little change with northern England staying damp with some spots of rain. Also a few spots affecting northern and western Wales and southwest England. There is likely to be some low cloud and mis shrouding western coasts too. Drier in other areas although rather cloudy, some sunshine in the southeast. Much brighter for Scotland and Northern Ireland as the sun comes out here.

Overnight the rain band slips to southern England, but may become heavier for a time as it does so. Becoming damp across East Anglia too. Clearer skies for northern England and parts of north Wales as well as Scotland and most of Ireland. Turning chilly in Scotland with a touch of frost in central areas.
