Sunny spells and showers, these most frequent in the north

A showery start for many though largely dry with sunny spells across much of England. These showers merge into longer spells of rain across northern England through the morning.

The afternoon ses many staying dry with sunny spells, though longer spells of rain still about across parts of southern Scotland into northern England. Cloud thickens across southwest England.

Outbreaks of rain continuing into the evening across northern England and parts of southern Scotland. Meanwhile, rain advances northwards spreading across southern and central Ireland, Wales and much of England overnight. Some snow showers affecting northern Scotland and the higher ground here, otherwise others will stay dry. A chilly night in the north.
