Extensive frost and ice to start the day

Good morning,

Extensively frosty and icy to start with dry weather and plenty of sunshine about.

Turning cloudier in the west and south with outbreaks of rain. Rain spreads north and east clearing much of Ireland, south Wales and SW England by later in the day. Expect snow over higher ground, some snow to lower levels too, across northern England and eventually southern and central regions of Scotland by evening.

Snow becoming increasingly confined to the hills and mountains across Scotland overnight. Rain gradually clearing eastern areas of the UK. Elsewhere will be largely dry with clear spells. A frosty start for some in the north while a relatively milder night elsewhere.
