Rain in south

Issued: 0530hrs Thursday 23rd March 2023
Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

Sunny spells with showers developing. Rain across the south later.

A dry and bright yet breezy start for many before showers soon push in on to western areas, again with a risk of thunder and lightning. Longer spells of rain are expected across central and southern Scotland for a time before breaking up and clearing by midday.

Later in the afternoon spells of more persistent rain will affect south Wales and central and south-eastern counties of England, clearing from the west here by evening. Winds will ease back through the day.

Rain clearing south-east England by midnight with clear skies and mostly dry conditions across central and southern England. Showers, some heavy and merging into longer spells of rain, across Wales, northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
