Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 22nd March 2023 Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus
A bright and dry day for many, though showers in the west.
Rain clears east early on Wednesday morning. This leaves a windy, dry and bright morning for many. Some heavy, perhaps thundery, showers for western Scotland and western Ireland, some of these merging into longer spells of rain.
Showers develop over western regions of England and Wales by late morning, in places falling heavy, with the risk of thunder and lightning. Tending to be drier in central and eastern England and much of Scotland. Staying windy.
Heavy showers, the risk of thunder, will push eastweards through the evening and overnight. Once the showers clear many will be dry with clear spells developing through the rest of the night, though some showers still across western areas.
