Morning Call - December 16, 2019
Outbreaks of rain SE & NW
A chilly day for all

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 16th December 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A chilly day for the UK and Ireland with outbreaks of rain affecting northwestern and southeastern areas. A breezy day for the northwest too. Staying mostly dry elsewhere.

Good morning,

A chilly start to the day with patches of frost and ice first thing. Outbreaks of rain affect southeastern parts of England while wintry showers affect northwestern areas. Showers turn to more persistent rain for northwestern Scotland and northwestern Ireland through the morning and it will be breezy here too. This turns to snow over higher ground.

Rain eases to the southeast through the afternoon but it remains cloudy over much of Wales and central and southern parts of England. Wintry showers and outbreaks of rain continue to affect western Scotland while rain persists over northern parts of Ireland. Staying breezy here through the afternoon too. A few showers may develop for the Northern Isles and for far southern parts of Ireland and England. Highs widely reaching 3 to 7C though parts of the southeast and southwest could see highs of 9 or 10C.

Rain returns to the southeast through the evening and persists for northwestern parts of Scotland and Ireland. Staying dry elsewhere with the best of any clear skies for northern England, southern Scotland and southeastern Ireland.

Have a good day!

Claire
