Spells of rain, sleet & snow west
Drier, brighter east

Issued: 0530hrs Sunday 15th December 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Another mixed day for the UK and Ireland with three separate low pressure centres around the islands bringing spells of rain, sleet and snow. Staying dry and bright for many to the east. Breezy to the southwest.

Good morning,

Showery outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow affect western Scotland and northern England through Sunday morning while an area of more persistent, sometimes wintry, precipitation affects southern and western Ireland and southwestern parts of the UK. A drier, brighter start to the day for many central and eastern areas.

Showers ease over Ireland through the afternoon but persist for western Scotland and Wales and spread across western parts of England. These fall as snow over higher ground. Breezy to the southwest with high temperatures widely ranging from 2 to 7C though parts of the southwest and southeast could see highs of 9 or 10C.

Outbreaks of rain reach southeastern England through Sunday evening while rain continues for western parts of Scotland and western Ireland. Snow continues to affect northern parts of England and southern Scotland.

Have a good day!

Claire
