Rain passing east, becoming brighter and fresher from the west

A breezy start to this morning over much of the country. It is wet in central Scotland, Wales and much of western and southern England. This rain will be moving quickly into eastern areas during this morning. Brighter, drier weather quickly follows from the west into Wales and western England. Heavy showers in western Scotland and western Ireland.

This afternoon is bright and breezy in much ofEngland and Wales as well as central and southern Scotland. Some heavy showers in western Scotland as well as western Wales and northwest England later. Scattered showers for Ireland, but good spells of sunshine here too.

Tonight brings rain and wind through Ireland, this eventually reaching western Wales and western England. More eastern areas are going to be drier although rather cloudy.
