Morning Call - February 12, 2021
Cold
Rain, sleet & snow southwest

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 12th February 2021
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A cloudier day for Ireland and the far west of the UK as an area of low pressure approaches from the Atlantic. Winds strengthen here too. Early rain, sleet and snow over southern Ireland and the southwest of the UK tends to fade during the morning before a front arrives to the west of Ireland later bringing further wintry precipitation across the island during the evening. Clear skies become increasingly confined to eastern parts of England and Scotland where there will be a scattering of snowy showers throughout the day.

Good Morning,

Another very cold start to the day on Friday but dry for most across the UK and Ireland. The best of the morning sun will be over northern and eastern areas as Ireland and the southwest of the UK tend to be cloudier. Some patchy rain, sleet and snow across southern Ireland and the southwest of the UK while eastern Scotland and the northeast of England see a scattering of snowy showers.

Cloud thickens and lowers over Ireland and the west of the UK through Friday afternoon as an area of low pressure arrives from the Atlantic. Winds strengthen here too with coastal gales for western areas. Rain arrives over far western parts of Ireland through the late afternoon. The best of the brightness becomes confined to eastern parts of England and Scotland during the afternoon with snow showers continuing over eastern Scotland.

Through the evening a wintry mix of rain and sleet increasingly turns to snow as it spreads over Ireland. Cloud continues to thicken in the west so any clearer skies stay confined to the east of the UK.

Have a good day!

Claire
