Heavy rain west
Drier east

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 23rd February 2021
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Heavy rain in the west, drier in the east, mild for all

It will be a mild morning across all parts of the UK and Ireland. A brisk south-westerly wind will be bringing plenty of cloud to most areas, although there will be some sunny spells developing across parts of central and eastern England. Rain affects Ireland and much of central and western Scotland, this being heavy at times.

The weather changes little this afternoon. It stays breezy and there will be some bright or sunny spells across parts of central, eastern and southern England. Cloudy skies always affecting Western Wales and Southwest England with a risk of drizzle here. That drizzle risk may slip into Northwest England too. Staying wet across much of western and central Scotland as well as Ireland with the risk of local flooding. Windy for all with gales in the west.

Staying very mild overnight. Rain will become lighter across Ireland, although will move into western Wales, Southwest England and Northwest England. Staying wet across much of Scotland with heavy rain in the west. Light rain in northern Scotland. Other areas will be dry and breezy with broken cloud.
