Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 5th September 2018 Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling
Sunny spells for some, cloud for others, showery rain in the far west
Good morning,
With high pressure in control you may be fooled into thinking the forecast would be a straightforward dry and sunny one. Wel, you'd be wrong! The current high pressure ridge has cloud trapped below it and although a sunnier day is expected today for many, there is still cloud floating around. Mostly the cloud is across southwest England and East Anglia as well as the far southeast. It will break to give some bright spells, but there will also be some showers, especially in the east where it will feel chilly. The best of the sunshine today in norther England, north and west Wales and eastern Ireland as well as the east and south of Scotland. Across western Scotland and western Ireland cloud will increase bringing rain here, this edging east during the day.
Showery rain fades in Scotland tonight but moves through eastern Ireland and into northwestern England and west Wales by morning, only very light. It turns cold enough for a touch of ground frost in central Scotland. Drier elsewhere although always the risk of drizzle on eastern coasts of England. Simon Email me at [email protected]
