Warm and sunny south
Rain for a time north

Issued: 0530hrs Thursday 27th September 2018
Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

Rain moves south across Scotland, breaking up

Good morning,

Pressure remains high across southern Britain. Another dry and sunny day for much of England & Wales. Warm and fairly humid for the Midlands and south-east.

A cold front slips slowly southwards across Scotland, weakening as it reaches northern England later. Wettest for the NW Highlands in the morning, and patchy rain will spread across the central belt by the middle of the day.

A few bursts of rain for southern Scotland this afternoon, reaching the far north of England by evening. Some rain also affects Northern Ireland by afternoon.

Light winds in the south; a fresh west then northwesterly in the north, gusty for a few hours ahead of the front.

Today's top temperatures will reach 20 to 22C or locally warmer in central & south-east England. Around 16 to 18C for Wales and northern England. 13 to 15C for Scotland and Northern Ireland, but dropping cooler from the north later.

Have a great day.
Garry
