Sever gales mainly in the north and west, feeling warm in the south but colder later

A very windy spell of weather ahead during the coming week. Severe gales are likely on many days with the risk of some minor damage to trees and buildings. The weather will be mixed too with showers or longer spells of rain. Temperatures are going to be warm in the south and east on many days but coler to the north. All areas may turn briefly cooler at the end of the week.

Thursday 20/9/18
After a cold start in Scotland, another area of low pressure may spin up through Thursday bringing heavy rain and strong winds to much of Ireland and the UK, passing from west to east. Winds may be excess of gale force with even stronger gusts. Mild to the south and east, but turning colder in the north and west with sunny spells and scattered showers. Highs at 24C in the southeast, 11C in northern Scotland.


Friday 21/9/18
Overnight gales and rain clearing eastern England on Friday morning. Low pressure remains to the north of Scotland introducing a colder, strong west to northwest wind. There will be god spells of sunshine for most but some showers in the north and west. The showers could turn wintry over Scotland. Highs at 9C in northern Scotland, 18C in southeast England.

 


Saturday 22/9/18
A ridge of high pressure builds to the south of the country on Saturday. Low pressure to the west will be pushing fronts northwards bringing rain through Ireland and western Scotland. Drier east and south although staying rather cloudy. Winds in the west with tops of 10 to 19C.
 


Sunday 23/9/18
A ridge of high pressure building to the south of the UK on Sunday. This should bring much fair weather in England and Wales. Fronts may pass east over Scotland, northern England and Scotland giving some cloud and rain here. Highs at 10 to 19C.


Monday 24/9/18
Higher pressure may be in control on Monday. This should bring dry weather to many with sunny spells although the far west may have some cloud and spots of rain. Highs at 12 to 19C.

Tuesday 25/9/18
Higher pressure is expected to be in control to the south of the country through Tuesday bringing drier weather to much of England, Wales and Ireland. Some rain could afect Scotland as fronts moves east. Highs at 13 to 20C.
