Duty forecaster: Dr. Simon Keeling

Mixed weather and a cold weekend but turning milder next week

A mixed week ahead with low pressure in control to close this week and for the first part of the weekend. This brings cloud, rain and strong winds as well as much cooler temperatures. Turning milder early next week as the winds turn southwesterly. Rain eases as pressure builds.

Friday 7/9/18

Further areas of rain in southern Ireland and perhaps southern England as well as the far south of Wales. In between these areas it will be brighter with some sunny spells. Temperaures at 21C in eastern England, 14 to 16C for many others.

Sunday 9/9/18

Highs at 22C in southeast England, 15C in western Scotland.

Monday 10/9/18
A southwesterly flow through the UK and Ireland on Monday. Ridge of high pressure to the south with low pressure to the northwest. A front extends across Scotland and Ireland bringing rain here, some of it heavy. Low cloud and drizzle on western coasts of Wales and southwest England. Drier east and south with sunny spells developing. A fresh to strong southwest wind and tops of 16C in northwest Scotland, 24C in southeast England.

Tuesday 11/9/18

Highs at 24C in southern England, 14C in northwest Scotland.

Wednesday 12/9/18
