Generally dry south & east

A southwesterly pattern will prevail during the week ahead, bringing some rain at times for the west & north-west. Very little rain will reach the south and east, where it will become increasingly warm and rather humid. Nights generally mild.

Monday 10/09/18
High pressure lies to the south of Britain, whilst fronts pass across north-western areas. Warm and dry in the south & east of England and Wales, and largely dry in eastern Scotland too. Cloudy skies for north-western areas. Drizzly rain for north-west England, perhaps a little drizzle for west Wales. Risk of steadier rain for western Scotland. A southwesterly breeze, strongest around western coasts. Temperatures 17 to 24C, warmest south-east.

Tuesday 11/09/18
A very warm and humid day is likely for south-east England, with some sunshine. A front is expected to lie across northern England and Wales, producing cloudy skies and patchy rain, mostly affecting western hills. A few drizzly showers for western Scotland, but generally dry east of the Highlands. A west or southwesterly breeze. Temperatures ranging from 13 to 17C across northern Britain, but up to 20C for many southern areas, and locally 23 to 26C south-east.

Wednesday 12/09/18
An ongoing west to southwesterly pattern with fronts trailing across Britain and Ireland from the Atlantic. Some uncertain about the location of these fronts, but a risk of low cloud, rain or drizzle for some west & north-western areas. Eastern Scotland remains mainly dry. The south of England also stays dry. Fresh in the north, warm in the south. Highs 16 to 23C.
 

Thursday 13/09/18
Detail is uncertain, but there should be little change to the prevailing southwesterly pattern. Some cloud and patchy rain north-west, but largely dry and warm with sunshine south and east. Highs 14 to 22C.

Friday 14/09/18
High pressure stays to the south, maintaining generally fair conditions. Some rain or showers possible toward the north and west. Highs 14 to 22C.

Saturday 15/09/18
Probably little change, with rain most likely confined to the north-west, whilst many places may stay dry and fairly warm. Highs 14 to 22C.
