Severe gales at the weekend but then better next week

Windy weather continues over the coming days as low pressure systems cross the UK and Ireland. There will be some heavy periods of rain too, most to the north and west. next week is showing signs of an improvement as higher pressure builds. Temperatures may be cool this weekend before lifting slightly next week.

Saturday 22/9/18
A ridge of higher pressure builds on Saturday. This should bring fair weather to most with sunny spells. However, a few showers could affect eastern coasts. Thicker cloud and some rain arriving in the southwest of Ireland and southwest England ater with the winds increasing here too. Temperatures will be rising to between 10 and 16C.

Sunday 23/9/18
Low pressure crosses the UK and Ireland on Sunday. This brings rain and the risk of severe gales, which could be strong enough to cause damage. The rain could be heavy. Turning cooler. Highs at 10 to 16C.


 
 
 

Monday 24/9/18
Higher pressure builds on Monday. Showers clear from the east and then the day should be dry with sunny spells throughout. Highs at 12 to 15C.

 
 
 

Tuesday 25/9/18
High pressure persists in the southern half of the UK and Ireland on Tuesday bringing another fair day for most with sunny spells. Some rain may affect northwest Scotland as fronts brush past. Highs at 14 to 19C.

Wednesday 26/9/18
Little change on Wednesday as higher pressure brings dry weather with sunny spells to southern areas, cloudier skies and some patchy rain in the north. Highs at 12 to 19C.

Thursday 27/9/18
A few showers in northwest Scotland at first. Elsewhere it should be dry with more sunshine. Highs at 13 to 20C.
