Some morning fog and frost

High pressure will build in across the British Isles this week, and settled weather is likely heading into early October too. Plenty of dry and increasingly warm weather in southern Britain. Northern areas will be breezy with some rain at times, mainly affecting western Scotland. Some chilly nights with fog and slight frost in rural areas.

Wednesday 26/09/18
High pressure lies to the south. A dry and warm day for the Midlands and the south, with best sunshine toward the east. Cloudy in the west & north, with fronts trailing across Scotland bringing some rain. Wettest for the West Highlands. Patchy rain for Northern Ireland, perhaps Cumbria, but amounts small. A brisk westerly breeze for northern regions. Lighter winds south. Highs 10 to 14C north, 18 to 22C south.


Thursday 27/09/18
A weakening cold front slips southwards bringing occasional rain to Scotland, and northern England, possibly north Wales, but amounts generally small. Showers follow across north & western Scotland. Central and southern England & Wales will stay dry and fairly warm with sunny spells. A northwesterly breeze, strongest in northern regions. Temperatures ranging from 10C in north-west Scotland, up to 22C in south-east England.


Friday 28/09/18
High pressure is likely to rebuild from the west. A few showers possible, mainly around coasts in the north-west. Sunny spells for most places. Variable winds, an easterly breeze is possible for the English Channel, westerly in Scotland. Early fog patches in low-lying areas. Fresh for northern areas, 10 to 15C. Staying warm in the south, 20C or above.
 


Saturday 29/09/18
Fair weather continues for the south, with early fog patches clearing to give a good deal of sunshine. A westerly breeze may bring cloudier skies and spots of rain to western Scotland. Chilly in the morning. Highs 11 to 19C.

Sunday 30/09/18
Patchy rain may affect western Scotland and Northern Ireland, but most of Britain and Ireland should stay dry. Fog patches clearing. Sunny spells. Highs 11 to 17C.

Monday 01/10/18
A cool feel is likely with a north-westerly breeze. Generally dry. Local showers in northern Scotland. Highs 11 to 16C.
