A good amount of dry weather into the weekend

A trough of low pressure will retreat slowly from the British Isles later this week, but may leave a legacy of scattered heavy showers. Pressure will be fairly high into the weekend, and some places will see a run of fair days. However, areas of showers and thundery rain may encroach back in from the southwest.

Thursday 01/08/19
Pressure builds slowly, with sunny spells for many. However, a trough of low pressure remains nearby, bringing scope for some showery outbreaks through the afternoon, these quite hit and miss, but may form into a band from central-southern Scotland, along the spine of the Pennines and locally into the Midlands & eastern England. Some of these may be thundery. Highs 18 to 24C.

Friday 02/08/19
High pressure extends a ridge north through most of the UK on Friday. This gives a fair day in many places with sunny spells and broken cloud. Local areas of showers are possible again, well scattered, but locally heavy later in the afternoon. High temperatures ranging from 17 to 24C.
 

Saturday 03/08/19
High pressure to the north brings a mostly fair and dry day for much of Scotland and Northern Ireland. A risk of areas of showers toward the south of England & Wales, although confidence of detail is low. Highs at 14 to 24C.

 
 
 

Sunday 04/08/19
Further outbreaks of rain and thundery showers are expected for southwestern parts of the UK and Ireland as low pressure stays close by. A mostly fair and dry day for the rest of the British Isles. Highs at 15 to 23C.

Monday 05/08/19
Low pressure stays close to southern England on Monday bringing further thundery showers to southern counties. A mostly dry and fair day elsewhere across the UK and Ireland. High temperatures at 16 to 22C.

Tuesday 06/08/19
A fresh northerly flow is likely early next week, with a mix of sunny spells and occasional heavy showers, although things may improve for a time. Highs 16 to 22C.
