Low pressure returning mid-week bringing mixed, unsettled conditions

The week begins mostly dry and settled however from Tuesday onwards, low pressure makes its presence felt as the British Isles experience frequent showers and outbreaks of rain. There are likely to be some thunderstorms at times too as multiple fronts cross the country.

Wednesday 17/07/19
Low pressure to the northwest on Wednesday is expected to be pushing showers and outbreaks of rain eastwards across the country during the day. This may be heavy in northern and western parts of Ireland and Scotland. A mixture of scattered showers and sunny spells for western England and Wales. Drier to the southeast though East Anglia could see some heavy showers at times. Highs at 17 to 23C. Cooler in the northwest at just 14 or 15C, warmer to the southeast at 24 or 25C.


Thursday 18/07/19
A band of heavy rain and showers works its way eastward across England throughout the day as low pressure stays close by. These showers may be thundery over East Anglia and the East Midlands at times. There will be a fair bit of cloud around for southern parts of the UK and Ireland. Brighter to the north with scattered showers, these mostly affecting Scotland and the northern half of Ireland. High temperatures around 15 to 24C.


Friday 19/07/19
Low pressure to the southwest brings heavy bursts of rain and fresh winds to the southwest of the UK through the day. Cloudy skies over southern parts of the UK with clearer skies and some sunny spells to the north. Most areas at risk of catching a shower or two. High temperatures at 15 to 22C.
 


Saturday 20/07/19
Pressure may build from the southeast on Saturday to bring a mostly bright day to the British Isles. Cloudier to the northwest and south where pressure is lower. Showers developing at times over Ireland and western parts of the UK. High temperatures ranging from 17 to 23C.


Sunday 21/07/19
A similar day to Saturday with low pressure to the northwest and higher pressure to the southeast. A dry and bright day for southern and eastern parts of the UK. Frequent, sometimes heavy, showers for Ireland and northwestern Scotland. Highs at 19 to 26C.

Monday 22/07/19
An area of low pressure to the west may send bands of heavy rain and showers across Ireland and the UK on Monday. A dry and bright day for the far northeast. High temperatures from 18 to 26C.
