Mixed, rain at times in the north but drier to the south, breezy days too

The weather stays rather mixed in the coming week. It is likely to be drier than average for most areas. A mild weekend overall, but then turning cooler into the middle of next week. Most rain will be to the north, but drier in the south.

Friday 11/1/19
Pressure stays high through Friday. A weak front will be clearing south taking some cloud and showery spots of rain with it over the far southwest of England and southeast England. Dry for most with the cloud then breaking and sunny spells developing. Brighter in northern England and Scotland as well as much of Ireland with sunny spells here. Patchy rain affecting the west coast sof Scotland and western Ireland. Highs at 7 to 10C.

Saturday 12/1/19
Fronts move southeast through the country on Saturday. This brings cloud and outbreaks of rain to more northern and western areas. Breezy for all areas too. Drier in the south, although some broken cloud and sunny spells. Highs at 7 to 9C.


 
 
 

Sunday 13/1/19
High pressure remains to the southwest of Ireland on Sunday. Low pressure to the north of Scotland. A brisk northwest wind affecting most places, with a risk of gales in northern Scotland. There will be broken cloud and some outbreaks of rain and showers, most in the north. Brighter in the south. Highs at 7 to 9C.
 

Monday 14/1/19
Ridge of high pressure in the south, low pressure to the north. Cloud and periods of rain in western Scotland and Ireland as fronts move east. Drier and brighter east and south, although cloud increasing. Highs at 8 to 11C.

Tuesday 15/1/19
Low pressure north of Scotland on Tuesday. A west to southwest flow brings front passing east giving cloud and outbreaks of rain, most north and west. Again it should be drier in the south. A milder day to the south at 12C but 8C in Scotland.

Wednesday 17/1/19
Perhaps cooler through Wednesday as low pressure passes to the east. This gives a northwest flow and a mix of sunshine and showers. The showers could be wintry on the hills in the north. Highs at 5 to 8C.
