A mixed week and feeling chilly

We are now entering a period of chiller weather. Mixed weather overall with some rain, sleet and snow at times. Next week is likely to be staying chilly with indications of temperatures slipping away as the week progresses.

Saturday 19/1/19
Low pressure over the country on Saturday. Areas of cloud and some showery rain surrounds the low. Eastern Scotland and eastern parts of England are likely to be seeing most of the rain. Dry for many areas with some bright or sunny spells breaking through the cloud. Temperatures rising to 4 to 7C but 10C in southwest England.

Sunday 20/1/19
A chilly day with low pressure to the south. The risk of some sleety drizzle in Scotland and Ireland. Broken cloud in southern and central England and Wales with some bright or sunny spells. Best of any sunshine in northern England. Highs at 4 or 5C in the south, 6C in Scotland and northern England.

 

Monday 21/1/19
A weak ridge of high pressure on Monday brings a dry but chilly day in England and Wales. Rain into western Scotland and Ireland, turning to snow on hills. Drier in the east. Highs at 7C in western Scotland and western Ireland, 3 to 5C for most other areas.

 
 
 

Tuesday 22/1/19
Low pressure brings more unsettled weather on Tuesday. There is the threat of rain, sleet and snow. Winds may be strong. Wintry showers and colder weather follows to the north and west. Highs at 3 to 6C.

Wednesday 23/1/19
A northwest flow through the country on Wednesday. This brings chilly conditions with some good spells of sunshine. Showers around northern, western and eastern coasts. Inland areas should stay sunny. Highs at 2 to 5C.

Thursday 24/1/19
A chilly day with low pressure to the south, a ridge of high pressure building over Scotland. It should be mostly dry with sunny spells. Highs at 3 to 6C.
