Sunday 27/01/19
Low pressure moves eastwards across Britain, ushering in a bitter northerly wind. A risk of gales, particularly around coasts and hills. Clusters of showers, some heavy bursts with isolated thunder near western coasts - a mix of rain, hail and some snow, chiefly over hills, but increasingly falling to lower levels. Areas exposed to the northerly wind will see most frequent precipitation. Some sunshine, mostly down the spine of the country. Highs 4 to 7C, but feeling sub-zero.

Monday 28/01/19
A north to northwesterly pattern continues, maintaining a chilly pattern with wintry showers and a risk of ice. Strong to gale force winds, especially near North Sea coasts, where large waves may result in coastal flooding and damage to seafronts. Areas of snow and hail showers, locally frequent in eastern Britain, and also coming inland from the Irish Sea into Wales. Showers in the south-west mostly rain at low levels near coasts. Highs 2 to 7C, mildest in the far south-west.

Tuesday 29/01/19
A cool to cold theme, although precise detail is uncertain. Winds generally northwesterly. Showers, with a mix of rain, snow and possible hail - most frequent near coasts in the west. Sunny periods inland and across the south-east. Icy patches are likely, particularly north and western areas. Top temperatures 2 to 6C. locally higher on the south coast.

Wednesday 30/01/19
Low confidence of details. Cold for many with hard frost and ice. A few snow or hail showers around coasts. A risk of a frontal system moving in across central-southern Britain, producing a mix of rain and snow - some areas have a chance of disruptive snow. Highs 1 to 5C, locally higher far south.

Thursday 31/01/19
Low confidence. A generally cold pattern with snow and ice likely. A risk of strong winds in the south-west with more persistent snow and rain developing. Highs 0 to 3C, locally higher southwest.

Friday 01/02/19
Most likely cold or very cold. An ongoing risk of snow and ice. Temperatures barely above freezing.
