Mixed, tending to turn milder into the weekend, rain and wind in the north

A mixed week of weather ahead. A quite start with high pressure bringing mostly dry conditions and feeling rather chilly early on. Tending to turn more unsettled in northern areas through the end of the week and the weekend with a risk of some rain and stronger winds here. Tending to become milder into the weekend as winds come in off the Atlantic.

Thursday 10/1/19
High pressure dominates the weather across the UK and Ireland on Thursday. This brings some clear skies and a few fog patches in the morning, although these clearing. Tending to be more cloud to the north and west with the threat of some drizzle over coasts and hills. The best of any sunshine is likely in more southern areas. Highs around 4 to 6C for most, but to a milder 10C in Ireland and western Scotland.


Friday 11/1/19
Pressure remains high on Friday. This brings cloud and some drizzle in northern and western Scotland as well as much of Ireland and the western coasts of England and Wales. Brighter to the east and south with some bright or sunny spells developing here. Highs at 7 to 10C.

 


Saturday 12/1/19
High pressure stays west of Ireland on Saturday as a weakening front moves east and south through the country. This is going to be bringing some outbreaks of rain, mostly north and east. Southern and western areas tending to be drier with broken cloud and some bright or sunny spells. Highs at 7 to 11C.
 


Sunday 13/1/19
The area of high pressure stays southwest of Ireland on Sunday. Breezy with broken cloud for many with some rain or showers in northern and western Scotland, drizzle in western Ireland. The highest chance of any sunshine in southwestern England. Temperatures at 9 to 12C.


Monday 14/1/19
The flow is likely to become more westerly on Monday. Fronts bringing some cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle to western Ireland and western Scotland. The risk of some cloud and spots of rain affecting western coasts of England and Wales, a few brighter spells in more central and eastern areas. Temperatures at 7C in northern Scotland, more widely 9 to 12C.

Tuesday 15/1/19
It may turn cooler on Tuesday as the wind becomes more northwesterly. A front brings a band of rain south through all areas, this follows by showers. Highs at 5 to 9C.
