UK Forecast - August 17, 2021
Cloudy, mostly dry
Few bright spells

Wednesday
Plenty of cloud affecting all parts of the UK and Ireland on Wednesday. The cloud may be thick enough to produce a few spots of rain across the far north of Scotland, as well as the hills of western England and Wales, mostly in the morning. The afternoon sees further cloud, although there will be breaks developing in in, mostly in central and eastern areas, these allowing for some bright or sunny spells to develop. Highs at 22C in sunshine in eastern England and Scotland, 17C in the cloudier west and north.

Wednesday Night
Cloud and spots of drizzle in the far north of Scotland tonight. Elsewhere it is going to be dry with broken cloud, although always the threat of some drizzle affecting western and southern coasts of England and Wales. Patchy rain will be arriving in Ireland with low cloud and drizzle here. Lows at 8 to 12C.

Thursday
A shallow area of low pressure passes east through Ireland and into the west of Wales on Thursday morning. This brings lots of cloud and some outbreaks of showery rain and drizzle with it. The showery bits of rain then move into the Midlands and parts of northern England. Southwest England as well as the west and south of Wales see most of the rain with fog shrouding hills and coasts here. More eastern parts of England start brighter, but some bits of rain here by the evening. Further cloud associated with a weak front in Scotland bringing patchy rain. Tending to turn Drier in Ireland and brighter too. Highs at 24C in eastern parts of England in ny brightness and sunshine, 15C in northern Scotland, muggy for most.

Friday
A ridge of high pressure builds over the UK on Friday. There will be broken cloud, although some drizzle over the hills of western England and Wales. Further drizzle over high ground of Scotland too. There will be breaks in the cloud which will give bright or sunny spells, the best in the east. Western coasts will always be at risk of low cloud, fog and drizzle. More persistent rain affecting Ireland as a front passes east. Highs at 24C in any sunshine in eastern England, 19C in Ireland, 17C in Scotland.
