Low pressure dominates, centred northwest of Scotland. A windy day with periods of rain passing eastwards across many areas. Rain may set in for an hour or so early morning, and again later across England and Wales as troughs move through. Showers will be frequent all day in western regions, with hail and a chance of thunder. Occasional sun in the east. Brisk southwesterly winds, will strengthen for a time as rain passes through. Highs 8 to 12C, mildest in the far south.

Sunday night
Staying blustery through the night, brisk westerly winds may touch gale force near western coasts and hills. Further showers in western areas, merging to give more persistent rain or hill snow in western Scotland. A few showers spilling inland, but eastern districts of Britain will be largely dry with clear spells. Most places avoiding a frost. Lows 4 to 7C, though northern Scotland may be chillier.

Monday
Complex areas of low pressure reside close to Britain. A front is likely to slip south across Scotland. This brings rain to northern and western regions in particular, some turning to sleet and snow over the hills towards evening. Largely dry for the Midlands and eastern England with sunny spells. Some scattered showers in the west of England and Wales. Heavy rain pushes in from the southwest into the evening and night. Another breezy day. Highs 4 to 7C north, 7 to 10C south.

Tuesday
Much uncertainty in forecast detail, but an area of low pressure is due to move across England and Wales, bringing a threat of heavy rain and gales to southern regions. As this system engages with cold air along its northern edge, some areas of central-northern England and north Wales may see snowfall to low elevations for several hours. Further north over Scotland and Ireland it will be less windy with sunshine and some snow showers in the north. Highs 0 to 3C north, 5 to 8C south.
