Cool and cloudy

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 17th August 2021
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Cool, plenty of cloud, a few spots of rain over western and northern coasts and hills

Another cool day for most on Tuesday. The northwest wind brings plenty of cloud with it. A few spots of rain affecting western coasts and hills too. Eastern, central and southern areas are likely to be drier. Some brighter spells developing in central and northern Scotland.

This afternoon brings further spots of rain in western and northern Wales as well as northwest England and Northern Ireland. Drier for many central, eastern and southern parts, the best of any brightness and sunshine in southwest England. Central and eastern Scotland should be bright too.

Cloudy in northern and western parts of the UK tonight. Some spots of rain over these areas too. Drier in the east and south, dry here too.
