Issued: 0530hrs Saturday 21st August 2021 Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus
Rain and showers for many. Sunny spells in southwest later.
Wet for most for a time on Saturday as low pressure continues to push outbreaks of rain northeastwards.
The heaviest rainfall in the morning is expected across mostly western areas as well as eastern regions of Ireland and Northern Ireland, before the heavier rain band shifts further north and into central and eastern areas in the afternoon. As the rain pushes through clearing from the south and southwest expect sunshine to break through but also showers, these could be on the heavy side for some.
Overnight, rain will gradually clear from the west with clear spells developing across Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales and southwest England. Patchy rain is likely to linger across some eastern regions of England and Scotland through much of the night, possibly falling heavy and persistent for some locations across eastern England.
Feeling relatively cool for many under the cloud and rain with highs generally between 16 and 23C, a tad higher across southeast England.
