A wet and windy morning, improving from the west this afternoon

Good morning,

Heavy periods of rain passing eastwards through Ireland and the UK this morning. Drier weather follows into the west of Ireland, this then clearing eastern coasts of England and Scotland this afternoon. It will be windy across England, Wales and Ireland, although these winds easing this afternoon.


Scotland will have some cloud and periods of rain in the south of Scotland as well as Northern Ireland. Northern Scotland is likely to be dry and cool with sunny spells here.


Tonight is likely to be dry at first with temperatures falling sharply, especially over Scotland and eastern England. Increasing cloud from the west as fronts move in bringing some rain by the morning to western areas.
