Morning Call - December 17, 2018
Bright and dry to start
Turning wet and windy later

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 17th December 2018
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

It will be a bright, dry start to Monday with a few mist and fog patches around and some areas of groundfrost. Becoming overcast, wet and windy later.

Good morning,

It will be a bright and dry start for many on Monday morning and any early mist and fog patches should clear quickly. There may also be some patches of groundfrost around where temperatures have dropped low enough. Winds will be light and it will feel cold as overnight lows will have fallen to 0 to 5C.

Through the morning and into the afternoon cloud will build from the west accompanied by strengthening southerly winds. By mid-afternoon rain will have reached most of Ireland and winds will be near gale force or stronger in exposed areas. High temperatures are expected to peak at 5 to 8C for Scotland, North Wales and much of England; 9 to 11C for Northern Ireland, Ireland, South Wales and the southern coast of England.

Rain, cloud and strong winds will continue to push eastward through the evening leading to an overcast evening and night for most of the British Isles. The rain should stay confined to the west.

Have a great day!
Claire
