Morning Call - December 09, 2018
Cold, dry and bright in the north
Wet, windy and mild in the south

Issued: 0530hrs Sunday 9th December 2018
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

THe northern part of the country will start dry, bright and cold while the southern half will be wet and windy but mild. Dry and bright for most by the afternoon.

Good morning,

There will be something of a north-south split to the weather on Sunday morning: the northern half of the country which is under the influence of a cold northerly airflow will be cold but bright away from coasts exposed to the wind while the southern half of the country will be under the influence of a milder, wetter westerly airflow which will bring cloud and rain across much of Ireland, Wales and England. Overnight lows of -1 to 4C for Scotland, 6 to 9C everywhere else.

Through the afternoon the rain and winds will ease across southern areas to leave a bright and dry afternoon for many although some rain and showers will linger along western coasts of Scotland, Ireland and Wales which may be wintry in nature over higher ground. High temperatures will reach just 4C in the north of Scotland but could reach 10 or 11C in the south of England.

Skies will stay largely clear into Sunday evening and winds will continue to ease. The risk of wintry showers remains for northern coasts of Scotland.

Claire
