Morning Call - December 24, 2018
Showers easing
Feeling rather settled

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 24th December 2018
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

High pressure is in charge today and will push any lingering showers this morning off to the southwest. It will feel rather settled with only light winds, if any. Cloudy in the northeast and southwest but some good sunny spells for a central swath of the country.

Good morning,

It's a bright start to the day for many with clear skies over Scotland and northern England. Cloudy to the south and west with showers lingering over southern and western areas. These showers will ease as the morning progresses. It will be cold too with a widespread groundfrost for Scotland and northern England. Milder to the south and west. Cloud will increase from the northeast as the morning develops edging further south over the northern half of Scotland.

It will remain dry through the afternoon though there will be a chance of a light shower in the West Country. Cloud will continue to push in from the northeast leaving a strip of bright skies and sunny spells extending from southwest Scotland through northwest England and North Wales to East Anglia. High temperatures in Scotland will reach 4C, in Northern Ireland 7C, across northern and central England and Wales 7 or 8C and for southern England 10 or even 11C.

The cloud over the northeast and southwest will begin to break through the late afternoon and into the evening and it will remain dry everywhere.

Have a great day!
Claire
