Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

After a dry and bright start to the day, cloud thickens from the west accompanied by strengthening winds. Rain spreads across Ireland through the afternoon reaching western parts of the UK by evening. Coastal gales possible around Ireland and to the west of Scotland.

Good Morning,

It's a dry start to the day across the UK and Ireland with the best of the brightness over central and eastern England and eastern Scotland. Cloud thickens from the west over Ireland and into the western Uk bringing patchy outbreaks of rain to western and southern parts of Ireland. Winds also strengthen to the west through the morning.

Through the afternoon winds continue to pick up from the west while cloud builds across much of the UK. Outbreaks of rain, some heavy, become more widespread over Ireland while some spots reach the far west of Scotland and Wales and the far southwest of England. Staying dry for most though cloud builds over eastern areas limiting sunny spells to the far east of England and Scotland.

Rain spreads west across Wales and into western parts of England and Scotland through this evening while cloud continues to thicken to the east. Winds also continue to pick up across the country with gales developing around Ireland and to the west of Scotland.

Have a great day!

Claire
