Some heavy

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 25th February 2020
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Chilly, wintry showers in the west, some heavy in central and southern areas this afternoon

Good morning,

A cool and breezy start to the day for most areas. Showers affecting western coasts and hills, readily turning to sleet and snow. Apart from an isolated showers most eastern areas are starting the day drier and brighter.

An area of heavier showers is crossing Ireland this morning, some of these heavy, reaching Wales and southwest England early this afternoon. This line of showers could be heavy and thundery, falling as snow, even at low levels for a short time and bringing some accumulations. This area of heavier showers, rain, sleet and snow passes through the Midlands and southeast England in the ater afternoon. Further snow and sleet showers in western Scotland and northwest England as well as western Wales and Ireland. Best sunshine always in the east. Chilly tonight, further snow showers in the west, but any showers fading in the eas.
