A cold and windy day, snow showers, most in the north and west

Good morning,

You'll need to wrap up well today because it is a cold morning out there. There are strong winds, widespread gales in the north and west, these blowing wintry showers over these northern and western areas. The snow may be heavy and more persistent over the western Grampians and Highlands. Drier in the east with plenty of sunshine.

It stays cold this afternoon. Further wintry showers, most of them in the west, but there will be some through southern England too. The snow showers heaviest in northwest England, central and western Scotland as well as the Southern Uplands. Further heavy snow showers in northern and western Ireland. Staying windy tonight and feeling cold in that wind. Most showers, wintry at times, in the west. More persistent snow in northern Scotland. Drier with clearer skies but staying windy and chilly in the east.
