Morning Call - February 02, 2020
Wet & windy
Mild south

Issued: 0530hrs Sunday 2nd February 2020
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Outbreaks of rain spread from southwest to northeast across the UK and Ireland today. Some brighter spells develop behind this though frequent showers affect western coasts and hills. Increasingly breezy through the day with coastal gales developing for western Ireland later. A mild day for most, chilly to the northeast.

Good Morning,

A band of rain clears to the north and east from Wales, England and Northern Ireland through the morning. Showers affect western parts of Ireland and spread into western Wales as rain clears away. After a dry start to the day in Scotland rain arrives from the southwest by lunchtime.

Rain continues to spread northeastward across Scotland through the afternoon, readily turning to snow over higher ground while showers spread east across Ireland. Winds also pick up for western parts of Ireland with coastal gales developing through the afternoon. Showers also continue for western parts of Wales and spread to northwestern and southwestern parts of England too. High temperatures range from just 3 or 4C in the northeast of Scotland to 9 to 13C across much of England, Ireland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The main band of rain clears to the northeast of mainland Scotland through Sunday evening while further outbreaks of rain develop over western Scotland and reach into the northwest of England. Showers persist for many western coasts and hills while gales continue to affect western parts of Ireland.

Have a great day!

Claire
