Rain edges east, a risk of snow over western Scotland

Good morning,

It's a cool start to the day in much of England, Wales and eastern Scotland, a touch of frost in places and one or two icy patches on roads. Cloud and rain as well as windier weather has already arrived in Ireland and western Scotland. This cloud and rain edging east through much of Scotland and into the west of England and Wales by lunchtime. Snow affecting the Highlands.

This afternoon sees the thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain passing into northern England, Wales and southwest England, where there could be a few heavier bursts. Brighter weather arrives in Ireland during this afternoon, a few showers in the west. Rain in the southeast later. The rain may linger over southern England tonight with most other areas being dry ahead of Saturdays storm.
