Rain this morning, slowly clearing this afternoon, then brighter and colder
There is an area of low pressure crossing the country today. This is bringing rain this morning across much of northern and eastern England, some of it heavy. Dry weather is edging into the west but there will be heavy showers through Wales and southern England. It's better in Northern Ireland although breezy and better for much of Scotland too.
The rain should clear from eastern England through this afternoon and then most of England and Wales become breezy and cooler but dry with some sunny spells. Scotland should stay mostly dry with further spells of sunshine as well Ireland. Some showers could affect Shetland and Orkney. Clear skies overnight will probably allow for a frost to form. There could be one or two fog patches in places by morning to.
