Morning Call - February 03, 2020
Gales
Dry & bright east

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 3rd February 2020
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

An area of gales affects northern and northwestern areas today as a deep area of low pressure circulates to the northwest of Scotland. This also brings outbreaks of rain and snow to Scotland and showers, some wintry, to northwestern and western coastal areas of England, Ireland and Wales.

Good Morning,

Northern and western parts of Scotland see gales and outbreaks of rain and hill snow this morning while a few showers affect southwestern parts of Scotland and England as well as northwestern parts of Ireland and England. Gales also affect northern and western parts of Ireland and northwestern parts of England and Wales too. Elsewhere it's a dry morning but rather cloudy to the south.

Rain tends to ease over Scotland into the afternoon but frequent showers, often wintry, develop over northwestern areas and gales persist here too. Showers also continue to affect northwestern parts of Ireland, England and Wales. Continuing cloudy over southern areas as a front lies nearby, perhaps bringing light, patchy rain into southern coastal counties of England at times. The best of the sun will be over eastern parts of the UK and southeastern Ireland.

Showers continue over northwestern and western coasts into Monday evening but it's a dry evening for most. Winds stay around gale force for northern and northwestern areas. The best of any clear skies continue to be in the east.

Have a great day!

Claire
