An unsettled week with gales as well as rain and heavy showers

An unsettled week ahead as the jet stream brings areas of low pressure from the Atlantic Ocean. The rain will be heavy, followed by showers and again these will be heavy. Some cool days with gale force winds too.

Tuesday 11/4/23
A fair morning on Tuesday. Good spells of sunshine in the east and dry for many. Cloud and rain affecting Ireland and southwest England this the spreading through the rest of Wales, central and southern England. A few spots of rain in northern England. Brighter in Scotland with some showers in the north at first, but then rain arrives in the south of Scotland in the afternoon. Windy in southern England. Highs at 9 to 12C.

Wednesday 12/4/23
Low pressure east of Scotland on Wednesday. An area of rain moving south through Scotland and into northern England, Wales and Ireland. Breezy with showers in southern England, sunny spells here too until rain arrives in the evening. Brighter with heavy showers following into Scotland. Highs at 7 to 9C in the rain, 11C in southern England.

Thursday 13/4/23
A bright morning with sunny spells and scattered showers for Thursday. The showers may become heavy and more persistent in the west in the afternoon. Best of the sunshine in eastern England and eastern Scotland. Showers affecting Ireland too. Highs at 9 to 11C.

Friday 14/4/23
There are indications of a deep area of low pressure swinging through Ireland and the UK on Friday. This could bring an area of heavy, thundery rain and a risk of flooding in places. Severe gales could occur as the low pressure passes east. Highs at 10 to 12C.

Saturday 15/4/23
Low pressure east of the British Isles on Saturday. The northwest flow brings sunshine and showers, some of them heavy over northern and western areas, fewer showers east and south. A cool day in the strong northwest wind at 8 to 10C.

Sunday 16/4/23
Staying mixed through Sunday. An area of rain and drizzle moving from west to east. Low cloud affecting wester and southern coasts and hills. Some bright or sunny spells developing in central and southern areas. Highs at a milder 10 to 15C.
