Becoming drier although breezy, a warmer end to the week too

The weekend is looking drier for most, although it will be Monday before we start to see the drier weather really settling in. Next week is then likely to be drier. There will be some breezy days and some patchy rain at times in England, Wales and Ireland, but overall it is drier and may become warmer later.

Monday 17/4/23
High pressure east of Scotland on Monday extending a ridge across the whole of the British Isles. The remnants of a front through Scotland and Ireland will be bringing cloud here and there could be some spots of rain too. Rather cloudy in Wales, but some sunshine in the east of Wales. For England it should be a dry day with sunny spells, although always more cloud in the east. Highs at 14 to 17C.

Tuesday 18/4/23
High pressure over Scandinavia on Tuesday. Good spells of sunshine throughout the day, just a little cloud developing on hills. A breezy day. Highs at 12C on eastern coasts, 15C over western areas and perhaps 17C in northwest Scotland.

Wednesday 19/4/23
High pressure northeast of Scotland on Wednesday. A brisk easterly wind bringing a cloudier day, especially in England, Wales and Ireland. There could be some outbreaks of rain, mostly in the east and south.The best sunshine in Scotland. Tops at 11 to 15C.

Thursday 20/4/23
The brisk easterly flow continues on Thursday. Most of the cloud is likely to be in Ireland and western parts of the UK today, this breaking. Sunnier skies develop in central and eastern areas. The potential for a warm day with 20C in the sunshine in southern England but 14C in the cloud in the west.

Friday 21/4/23
High pressure east of the UK on Friday. A fair day for most with some good spells of sunshine and staying dry too. Increasing cloud in western Ireland, especially later. Highs at 14 to 20C.

Saturday 22/4/23
High pressure stays east with low pressure top the west. A front slowly encroaches from the west bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain. Drier in central and eastern areas with some sunny spells. Tops at 15 to 21C.
